Formule & Méthode de Calcul
Pixelation = Average(RGB values in NxN block) → Fill block with single color
Bonnes Pratiques & Conseils
- Use Pixelation Over Blur for Maximum Security: Gaussian blur is mathematically reversible under certain conditions (deconvolution attacks). Pixelation at high intensity (block size ≥ 15px) permanently destroys information and is considered forensically irreversible.
- Extend the Selection Beyond the Target: When redacting faces or text, draw your selection rectangle 10-15% larger than the target area. This prevents edge pixels from leaking identifiable information like hairlines, jawlines, or partial characters.
- Verify at Full Resolution: Always zoom to 100% after applying the blur to confirm that the redacted region is truly unreadable. At thumbnail sizes, insufficiently blurred text can still be deciphered by determined observers.
- Save and Re-open to Confirm Permanence: After downloading the redacted image, re-open it in an image viewer to verify the blur is baked into the pixel data and not just a visual overlay.
